Why Sanctuary Arts

Sanctuary Arts is a place to make things. A space for artistic inspiration and process for theatre artists, musicians, dancers, visual artists, as well as the people who want to support them.

We believe there are enough people in Atlanta who not only want to see great art, but also want to be a part of making it happen. Art doesn't come out of thin air. It's crafted and created by highly skilled people who make our city a better and more beautiful place to live. But those artists need space and time to create, resources that are rare and precious. Even the artists you know who have "made it" often have several other jobs to support their basic costs of living, and are self-funding creative projects or working for far below market rates simply because they want to create.

The idea of the arts patron is an old one. Certainly many artists we consider to be the greats were only possible because they were supported by people in their communities that recognized their talent. What if we came together to do that again? What if in addition to sustainably supporting the great arts organizations we are lucky to have here in Atlanta, we also supported the artists themselves?
